Reports today note that Williamsport is the 7th fastest growing community in the country thanks to the natural gas drilling boom in the area. New eating establishments, hotels and retail stores have sprung up throughout Williamsport over the past 4 years. Thousands of new jobs have been created and many local residents are in training to work at natural gas related jobs. Due to high surplus gas drilling has slowed recently. Community leaders believe things will pick up soon and they vow to be ready.
